How can social entrepreneurship transform our future
244 million young people ages 6 to 18 in the world are unable to access education, according to UNESCO. As technology develops and the workplace becomes more automated, many young people with great potential will be left behind and unable to be a part of the working population in their countries, forcing them to migrate or leading to a widening of the poverty gap.
This is compounded by the problems of climate change already being faced in their countries, leading to extreme weather conditions with impacts felt disproportionately in poorer regions. The problem will accelerate and risk the future of entire countries, broadening the already large social gap between developed and developing nations. Therefore, only one question remains: what can we do about it?
If given the opportunity and the right tools, young people are truly the ones most capable of succeeding in finding solutions to issues faced in their daily lives and driving social entrepreneurship initiatives, which can transform their communities. This is where we would like to introduce you to the concept of social entrepreneurship. By definition, social entrepreneurship refers to the actions taken by an entrepreneur to address social problems. It involves exploring and developing solutions to tackle environmental or social issues experienced by a community.
At MICollaboratory, our mission is to provide programs that empower and engage aspiring youth in social entrepreneurship. We serve as a learning accelerator and a connecting ecosystem through a digital platform and solutions for hybrid training. We believe that all our challenges related to economic disparities and youth unemployment can be resolved through social entrepreneurship. It is important that we meet the sustainable development goals set by the UN. This will require a global, culturally inclusive, and intergenerational community. With these characteristics, we can join forces with professionals living in countries that have largely addressed these issues and help guide local youth in carving their own paths.
Join us today in the journey to change lives and the world with young leaders. Sign up for our monthly newsletter and join our community on our website as a student, teacher, or mentor. This year, we are aspiring to launch the Empower Social Entrepreneurship Programs in September in Ghana and in November in Nepal. Donate today to support our upcoming programs, where we will enable our participants to launch social entrepreneurship initiatives. All contributions, big or small, will go directly into funding these programs. Stay tuned for more and follow us on social media.
